This is a post by a great friend of mine talking about how much Orrin Woodward and his LIFE Leadership Materials have benefitted his Life journey over the last couple of years. Pappa Biggs as we call him, has become a staunch reader and can relate to all walks of life because of the education he has received from Chris Brady, Tim Marks, and Orrin Woodwards Leadership. god bless cody
IN LIFE FREEDOM BEGINS WITH EDUCATION
I’ve been in the Community Building Industry for 19 years. My background before
entering the industry was in banking industry for 16 years chiefly as a
lending officer and several other higher functions toward the end of that
career. So I’ve seen the various viabilities of many businesses, including
the banking industry. And I might add that I’m not at all surprised that
the banking industry and our nation’s businesses are in their current
situation, because of errant and misguided heads in both the banking
industry and the regulation of the banking industry. I remember having a
philosophical discussion with a head bank examiner in 1991, that the Feds
(FDIC) and Federal Reserve Bank were taking the country down the wrong path
by grading consumer loans as gold and toileting solid entrepreneurial loans.
It was a path of consumerism vs production.
I must admit that during those years I wasn’t much of a broad range reader.
My focus and my identity was the BANKER. Leaving that industry at that time
was not easy from personal and financial perspectives, but it was the best
decision I’ve made in my life! The impending consolidation of small
independent banks in Kansas would mean the sacrifice of my family for a
risky career. Much of the impetuous for the consolidation was caused by
increasing regulatory burdens and the arrogance of big city regulators, who
courted the big banks for their next career advancement into a large bank or
up the regulatory political ladder, to the detriment of our country’s
economic engine – small community banks, who knew the character of
entrepreneurs in their community.
The networking industry appealed to me because of the independence
and reward based on merit. However, I did find in my journey in this
industry, that similar to the banking industry, whoever had the gold wrote
the rules. So it wasn’t always right that ruled. Truly, just more of the
same!
It was a breath of fresh air a few years back when Cody Newton finallyasked to meet with me
aaaannnd If you know Cody, he gets to the heart of
matter, quickly, that’s an attribute I like. Anyway, he asked, if I would
be interested in the TEAM Leadership Material. My
immediate responds was, “WHEN”? I was aware of the progress people using
their system had achieved and it was being repeated over and over. It is a
personally demanding system, but well worth it. As in all endeavors, no
struggle, no advancement. I’ve certainly grown by listening, reading and
associating with the humble, vision focused leadership of this support
group.
Tying both the thinking and experiences from my banking and networking
background in light of the future of the environment that my progeny will be
looking at has been coming into focus in the last couple of months. Two
books have been enlightening to me: “1776” by David McCullough and “Freedom
Shift” by Oliver DeMille. Especially, chapter 2 in “1776” – ‘Rabble in
Arms’, which gives the background of two American Generals, who were
initially inexperienced militarily, but were personally responsible for
their education. These generals were Nathanael Greene and John Knox.
“1776” is a great read to understand the indomitable spirit of men, who burn
to be free. To quote an opening line from General George Washington,
“Perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages.” After reading this
book, you will understand “perseverance” at a level a modern American has no
clue about!
In “Freedom Shift” the last sections of Chapter 1 headed up as ‘The Growing
Popularity of Producer Education” and “Entrepreneurs and Freedom” speaks to
the foundation of freedom begins. With people “taking charge” of their
education! In the colonies, key people took charge of their education,
which lead to an understanding of the issues during the reign of King George
over the colonies. Their reading lead them further toward courage from the
understanding of the spiritual nature of the endowment in us by our creator
toward freedom. We all have that same call to freedom (witness the current
protest toward Wall Street). Although, many do not have the direction
toward the pursuit of that freedom, because they don’t take personal
responsibility to improve their education on personal and societal issues
and/or they don’t have the wisdom to pursue mentors, who have produced
success through achievement from their own endeavors.
Orrin Woodward says, “Ideals have consequences!” That’s so true! Ideals
can work either way – Good or Evil! As Chris Brady asks, “Are you going to
be a force for Good or Evil?” Be careful! Choose your mentors wisely!
Choose the ones, who strive to follow the attainment of a God inspired
purpose, in God inspired ways! I believe, I have chosen well by following
Cody, who is following and holding his leaders and himself accountable to a
God given purpose. Welcome to the journey of LIFE>>>>
